Abia State University Turns Bloody; As Police Begin Manhunt For The Perpetuators Of Such Evil

 ABIA State Police Command has begun man-hunt for the persons behind the beheading of two level three undergraduates of Abia State University, Uturu, Abia State.

 The Police Commissioner, Joshak Habilia dispatched crack detectives to investigate and fish out the culprits.
The Command’s spokesman, Onyeke Udeviotu, a deputy superintendent of Police, however said that no arrest has been made so far and appealed on the public to offer the police useful information to aid their investigation.
The victims, Nwigbo Chukwuebuka, a 300 hundred level student of Estate Management and Samuel Ethelbert, a third year student of Political Science were slaughtered Saturday night in their hostel located off-campus by persons suspected to be members of rival cult group......

Another person, Umeaforo Chigozirim, also a 300 level Political Science undergraduate sustained serious injuries resulting from machete cuts.
The killers, alleged to be members of Burkina Faso cult group were believed to be on a revenge mission over the death of their leader known as one Collins Agwu, aka Biggy, said to have been killed recently by another cult group known as Mafia

Meanwhile, Abia state Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has condemned the killing and cult violence in the university, saying that the gory picture of the two lifeless bodies with their heads severed has been a source of agony and mental torture to all well-meaning people who have respect for the value of life.

In a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Mr. Godwin Adindu, the governor described the incident as a show of savagery which should not be identified with students who are going through a process of training in character and learning.

He lamented that such trend of violence was capable of tarnishing the growing reputation of the institution as a topmost centre of academic excellence in Nigeria as attested by the performance of the students in the Nigerian Law School and in other national competitions and awards.

The governor warned that such dastardly acts perpetrated by students in the name of cult rivalry can no more be condoned in the tertiary institutions in the state, stressing that Abians are peace-loving people who have respect for the value of life.
